KNOWLEDGE Self-Check List:

In a full score, do I know…….

1. The text, breathing points, ranges, vocal challenges when working with vocalists?
2. The tempi, tempo change, transition, and pacing?
3. All transpositions, chordal and harmonic structures?
4. The phrase types and lengths, and formal structure?
5. Instrumentation and texture: who plays what when?
6. Instrumentation and texture: who plays what when?
7. The dynamic plan of the piece and balance issues?
8. Intonation –instrument tuning tendencies, ranges, challenges?

KNOWLEDGE Self-Check List:

1. Does my movement reflect/provoke the sound?
2. Am I becoming the music itself? Or imposing myself on the music making?
3. Who needs my help more? What kind of help(pulse, beat, entrance curing, phrasing, balance check, etc)?
