About Maestro as Professor
Maestro as Professor was founded in summer 2020 as a service to our profession and to the younger generation of musicians in this troubling time.
The webinar series is led by Dr. Chaowen Ting (Associate Professor/Director of Orchestral Activities, Georgia Institute of Technology) and Dr. Carolyn Watson (then Associate Professor/Director of Orchestral Activities, University of Kansas; currently Associate Professor / Director of Orchestras at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign). It is centered around navigating the various aspects of collegiate positions for aspiring orchestral conductors.
Sessions will cover a variety of aspects associated with obtaining a collegiate conducting position โ understanding and interpreting job descriptions, application materials and requirements, various types of positions, different types of schools/colleges etc. Over the course of this series, we will be joined by a variety of guest speakers from institutions throughout the United States.
